El Grande
Privacy Policy
El Grande is made by Octave ehf. (kt. 470723-0680), Reykjavík, Iceland, trading as Octave Studios. We are the data controller for the app. This policy explains what the app collects and why.
What we collect
- Gameplay content. The answers you type are sent to our servers so they can be checked against the question. They are used to run the game and to improve the accuracy of that checking.
- Player names. The names you enter for players in a game stay on your device. We do not send them to our servers.
- Basic technical data. When the app talks to our servers we receive standard request data: app version, device type, iOS version, and an IP address. We use it to keep the service running and to debug crashes.
What we do not collect
- No account, no email address, no phone number.
- No contacts, no photos, no location.
- No advertising identifiers and no third party ad tracking.
Why we are allowed to process it
We process gameplay content because it is necessary to provide the game you asked for (contract). We process technical data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and working.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers to host the app's backend and to run the answer checking. They process data only on our instructions. We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising.
Where it is processed
Data is processed in the European Economic Area where possible. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, that transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Gameplay content and request logs are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted or aggregated so they no longer identify a device.
Children
El Grande is made for an adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and Icelandic data protection law you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to privacy@octavestudios.co and we will answer within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd, personuvernd.is).
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page. Material changes are announced in the app.
